Why Astro Photography?
Dark sky parks with their exceptional starry nights and minimal light pollution are certified by DarkSky International. I am filled with wonder and awe when gazing into the night sky seeing the Milky Way rise with its countless stars! One can’t help but feel the vastness of space and our comparative smallness! Vermont offers many locations for Milky Way photography and traveling to some of the National Parks like Joshua Tree, Death Valley and Glacier National Park also offer amazing nightscapes to photograph!
Vermont was fortunate to be in the path of totality in 2024 for the solar eclipse. Using a star tracker with my camera it was possible to capture the entire eclipse right from our backyard! What a spectacular event it was!
Northern Lights are another favorite phenomenon to witness and Vermont has been fortunate to have a front row seat to them! Yellowknife, Canada put on a spectacular show when visiting last year with many colors and shapes shifting over a period of hours.
