The East African cheetah in Kenya numbers about 800-1200. They thrive in the Masai Mara and its open savannahs provide good hunting grounds. They often will rest or sit on elevated dirt hills. From here they have a good vantage point to survey the surrounding savanna for prey or they can rest and observe from a point of safety.
